Kingston DIY

Kingston DIY (KDIY) is a creative collective of local skaters that have reclaimed and repurposed vacant space under the M8/Kingston Bridge into an outdoor skatepark. Some of their priorities include creating a safe space to skate for all abilities and running a social enterprise.

The Because We Say So! team, met with three of the lads from
‘Kingston DIY’(KDIY) a local skate collective, to deliver a brainstorming session.

The session aimed to get the lads to think about their priorities for the development of the skatepark space and give a clear structure to develop an action plan going forward.

Outdoor seating and furniture was discussed and developing the growing spaces and raised beds, which would not only make the space more aesthetically pleasing but would also foster a greater sense of belonging between the users of the skatepark.

A safe space for KDIY also means that the health and safety aspects of the site that are lacking are focused on providing the safety concerns that were highlighted.
